South Africans are be coming acutely aware of the fact that the 4IR revolution will lead to great er inequality, particularly in our labor markets. For the last 10 year s, we have been suffering with xenophobia, and people are now suggesting th at the root cause of this fear is the lack of jobs.

\n

Data Management executives, management, and recruiters are also recognizing the fact that Data Management skills and talents are critical to business production. The higher education institutions (HEI) have also recognized that they are not producing the appropriate capabilities for the 4IR market.

\n

We,&nbs p;as DAMA Southern Africa, know that this knowledge gap and separation  impacts people at all ages, not just the youth.

\n

Over the last two years, we have worked hard to prepare our people for CDMP certificatio n, and we are now starting to see the benefits. The delay in CDMP exams cre ated a temporary delay but once the exams were released, we have seen appro ximately 60 people write the exams.

\n

As DAMA SA, we have done and ar e busy with the following in order to address this demand by the South ern African Data Management community:

\n\n Active involvement with government direction and commitment to 4IR\n Training development, in conjunction with DAMA SA training providers, to be able to support all available CDMP exams and electives\n Mentoring and coaching of data management professionals with what we r efer to as Data Management Take-A-Hike Expeditions to lead people to the su mmit of their choosing\n Discussion with HEIs to provide material and course structures to facilitat e Data Management learning that will meet the industry demand\n\n

We are experiencing some interesting outcomes:
