Ten years ago Data Governance was really just peeking its head over the top of the desk, raising its hand in the air, and crying out loud, &ld quo; Here I am.” Fast-forward to today, no longer the new kid on the block, but oh dear, definitely the underachiever. Its report card refl ects this in multiple ways – “could do better,” &ldq uo;lacks attention to detail,” “easily distracted,”& nbsp;“needs to improve focus,” and finally, “likely to re peat the year.” Sound familiar?
\nAlmost worse than this i s the number of people in our Data Management world who EXPECT Data Governa nce to fail at least a few times, so when they hear of such failure, their typical reaction is a shrug of the shoulders, a list of theoretical instruc tions, and a measured step away to something else.
\nWe want to buck this trend. Take Data Governance by the hand, step up to the plate, an d lead by example. Faint cheering can be heard in the background, a few peo ple are lifting their heads to listen, and even fewer are raising thei r hands as if to say, “I am here, I can help.”
\nHowever, to start this renaissance, we will need some help. We will also need knowl edge, advice, understanding, and above all else patience. And, of course, n othing will work if we do not document our work – not in the form of a report, but in the form of a self-help manual, a Dummies Guide to Da ta Governance, a how-to pocket guide.
\nCome and join us at our compl etely interactive workshop and help us build this guide. Share your stories , your successes, your failures, what you did right, and what you did wrong . But most of all, bring your passion along and place your mark on this jou rney. We won’t be supplying you with a presentation pack on the day, but you will get the guide as soon as it is available and we will ask you t o work with us post-workshop to ensure we meet and exceed not only your exp ectations but ours as well.
\nNo matter where you work, what you do, or how successful or otherwise you have been, we need YOU!
