ty.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=128&proposalid=11543\nIn the autumn of 2014, G
eneral Motors' enterprise data professionals teamed up with the Detroit
's local Wayne State University professors to embark on a Big Data Arch
itecture and Advanced Analytics Capstone Program. Our ultimate goal was to
create a data architecture and analytics platform that could predict pricin
g sentiment for global financial instruments. Since then, our journey has s
een us leverage and experiment with several different data architectures, d
ata models, systems, and methodologies. Throughout the lifespan of our init
iative, our data architecture has focused on enabling Data Analytics, Big D
ata Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. As the bre
adth and depth of our undertaking is ever-increasing in scale and spans sev
eral years, we would like to share our challenges, successes, and overall e
xperiences with the data architecture community. In this presentation, we&#
39;ll look back at our initial concepts and designs and see how our vision
has translated into implementation. We will also share what interesting new
scenarios have evolved and developed over the past six years. Further
, we will explore how these learnings are now being leveraged to push ahead
key initiatives that have real-world impact and results.
