ty.net/sessionPop.cfm?confid=128&proposalid=11561\n
This presentation wil
l discuss the three elements to value creation from data strategy:
\n\n
Addressing all the elements of building an executable data strategy, includ
ing the "softer side of strategy" – the pace of change
and adoption of new ways of thinking and doing\n
Building the data strategy knowing it is really the means to an end –
enabling analytic strategy, which is where value is created\n
Both data and analytics strategy must be aligned to help a firm capture val
ue from the insights, the key part of ROI\n\n
The central idea of strateg
y is easy to understand: aligning aspirations with capabilities. Data
strategy is also conceptually straightforward: an executable plan for
data and analytics that is driven by corporate strategy, to create val
ue for the organization from the necessary investment.
\n
Buildin
g an effective data strategy therefore requires fully recognizing
the context you are operating in, assessing culture, capabilities, an
d capacities before architecting a plan that can and will be executed.

\n
The importance of the softer side of strategy can't
be overstated – how to move the culture and at what pace, so that&nb
sp;data is no longer just an artifact of other processes, and analytics is
understood as a key part of the value creation cycle.
\
n
We will touch on:
\n\n	Starting with the end in mind \n
Balancing quick wins on specific use cases with all the detailed polic
ies and processes that need to be carefully thought out\n
Factoring in culture and the pace of change\n
Building the business case for the investments \n
Sustaining advantage by investing in data and analytics \n
